SWEN Terra and Regenagri: A shared framework for regenerative agriculture

Through its SWEN Terra strategy, SWEN Capital Partners has joined forces with international regenerative agriculture programme, Regenagri, to implement a practical framework for assessing regenerative land management in investment due diligence.

The collaboration combines SWEN Terra’s investment perspective with Regenagri’s agronomic and assessment expertise.

The Regenagri-based framework supports baseline assessments, investment decisions and long-term monitoring, providing investors and farm operators with a common reference point for discussing current practice, transition priorities and progress over time.

SWEN Terra at a glance

Launched in 2025, SWEN Terra is an Article 9 impact fund under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation. In September 2026, SWEN Capital Partners announced €125 million in commitments towards a €200 million fundraising target.

The strategy has announced two investments and is assessing around ten further opportunities in France, Spain and Italy. Its focus covers agricultural assets, including orchards, annual and perennial crops, alongside processing and value-chain infrastructure that supports regenerative production.

A whole-farm assessment

The Regenagri-based assessment covers six connected areas of farm management:

  • Soil health and soil cover;
  • Tillage practices;
  • Input management;
  • Crop diversity;
  • Trees and hedges; and
  • Resource use.

The assessment uses weighted criteria and clear scoring logic, while allowing for farm-specific context. This includes consideration of the applicability of criteria, water stress and crop-protection management, enabling consistent comparison across farms while recognising differences in production systems and starting points. The results help identify priority actions to create a transition roadmap.

SWEN Terra has now applied the Regenagri-based framework to several farms in its portfolio. These initial applications provide a practical basis for reviewing transition plans, tracking progress and refining the framework across different European farming systems.

The framework establishes credible baselines, identifies transition priorities and supports the measurement of progress over time. By providing a consistent basis for assessing and tracking regenerative agriculture practices, it aims to support and facilitate further deployment of climate finance towards the agricultural sector.
