International retailer Walmart has joined Regenagri’s global programme, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of regenerative agriculture worldwide.
Walmart operates across more than 10,750 stores and e-commerce platforms in 19 countries, serving 270 million customers every week. This partnership positions Walmart as Regenagri’s largest retail partner to date, expanding access to Regenagri-certified products for shoppers around the globe.
As the first food and apparel retailer to license with Regenagri, Walmart will include Regenagri certification as a key mechanism to verify and scale regenerative sourcing across its supply chains. Regenagri’s comprehensive supply chain solution offers full traceability and assurance that products are made with certified regenerative cotton, supporting Walmart’s ambition to transparency and responsible sourcing.
Walmart’s dedication to sustainability is demonstrated in its ESG progress, with robust goals of protecting, managing, or restoring at least 50 million acres of land by 2030 and achieving zero emissions by 2040. By joining Regenagri, Walmart further continues its ambition to integrate nature-positive practices, protect forests, and restore vital landscapes in the communities it serves.
Through regenerative practices such as minimising soil disturbance, planting cover crops, and integrating livestock, Regenagri-certified farms are working to improve soil health, water and energy efficiency, and restoring biodiversity. These practices also help support better livelihoods for farmers and enhanced animal welfare, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Franco Costantini, CEO of Regenagri, says: “We’re thrilled to welcome Walmart into the Regenagri programme. Our collaboration with such a major global retailer will introduce Regenagri-certified products to millions, raising awareness of the economic, environmental and social benefits that regenerative farming can deliver.”
“At Walmart, we aspire to become a regenerative company, which includes strengthening the sustainability of our supply chains to source key materials like fibers. Partnering with Regenagri is another step in how we support farmers in adopting regenerative practices, to continue delivering quality and affordable products for our customers.” said Jerome Del Porto, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Walmart.
